Synthesis, structural and hydrolytic studies of zinc(lI) complex of N,N'bis (2-aminophenyl) -2,4-diiminopentane
(Addis Ababa Universty, 2001-07) Tadele, Aden; Retta, Negussie (Professor)
In this study the synthesis of[N, N' -bis (2-chloroquinoxaline-3-yl)-1 ,3-diaminopropane and the synthesis, structure and hydrolytic activity of a zinc(lI) complex of N,N'-bis (2- aminophenyl)-2,4-diiminopentane are presented. In the first part attempt was made to synthesize a macrocyclic ligand derived from 2,3-dichloroquinoxaline and diamine. The reaction between 2,3-dichloroquinoxaline and excess 1 ,3-diaminopropane led to the formation of a pale yellowish solid. The IR, 1H NMR and 13N MR of the compound indicated that it is a non-cyclic molecule. The reaction of 1,2-phenylenediamine with acetylacetone in water resulted in the formation of a ligand that forms a complex with zinc(lI) ion. The complex was characterized by lH NMR, 13e NMR, IR, conductivity measurement, etc. The preliminary test indicated that rate enhancement by the complex on the hydrolysis of tri (p-nitrophenyl) phosphate, p-nitrophenylacetate and 4-nitrophenylbenzoate is in decreasing order, in 10% (H20) aq. acetonitrile at 35°e and above.
