    Assessment of Safety and Health Management Practices in Construction Projects – A case of ELMI OLINDO Construction Company

    developed and developing countries. This is because the construction industry has a poor health and safety performance record compared to other industries across the globe. Labor law in every nation states that it is the responsibility of an employer to ensure that every worker employed by the company works under safe and healthy conditions and free from any harm. The main objective of this project work is to assess the practice of health and safety management in constructions by taking ELMIOLINDO Contractors PLC construction sites in Addis Ababa as a case. 50 professional employees of the company participated in filling out the questionnaire given to them by the researcher additionally, documented sources were used for more accurate data including site observation/visit. The data has been combined through structured questionnaire and interviews; and analyzed using descriptive statistics with Microsoft Excel & IBMSPSS Software. This research found out that both of the construction sites have had an accident during the past three years. According to the findings, of the study every stakeholders in the industry take a share for the fatalities that occurred with contractors taking the largest part. As a result, the study revealed that the company has limitations in its workplace health and safety management practices.
