    Assessment of Employee Performance Management System Implementation Practices in Public Enterprises in Ethiopia: The Case of Ethiopian Railways Corporation.

    This study was undertaken to assess the employee performance management system implementation practices in public enterprises in Ethiopia: The Case of Ethiopian Railways Corporation. The design used in this research is a descriptive survey research using both qualitative and a quantitative method that is mixed research approach. Questionnaires were distributed to collect the data from sample respondents. The data was analyzed using thematic content analysis, and SPSS software was used for tabulation and graphical presentation of data. The findings show that the role of PMS is not clearly known by employees, no improvement measures done for poor performers, PMS implementation is not supported by top management, feedback is not regularly given for employees and there is no consistent standard for measuring performance. Recommendations were provided based on the findings. These include role of PMS must be clearly stated, continuous feedback should be given to employees for better improvement of future performance, top management body should support PMS implementation in ERC.
