    The effect of supply chain integration on operational performance of Ethiopian pharmaceutical supply service (EPSS)

    This paper analyzes current state of practices of supply chain integration and its effect on operational performance. EPSS was taken in this research because it is the largest and the oldest institution, it provides medicines, medical supplies, and laboratory reagents to hospitals and pharmacies. The prime aim is to investigate the effect of supply chain integration on operational performance of Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service (EPSS). Explanatory research design along with quantitative approach was employed with a sample of 385 was attained from sample respondents. Convenience non-probability sampling was applied to select the targeted respondents.Research Design was explanatory research design. The sample size was calculated based on Cochran formula and non-probabilistic sampling technique were the sampling technique. Scale validity and reliabilitywere testedusing Correlation coefficient& Cronbach‟s alpha. Primary data were collected using self-administered questionnaires for analysis. Both descriptive statistics&inferential statistics were used for the data analysis and presentation.Regarding the result, most of the respondents were male, have 2-10years of experience in the organization and have educational level of degree. This indicated that the respondents of this study have good understanding about supply chain integration and organizational performance issues.The studyshowed that, except internal integration and supplier integration, all the other four dimensions of SCI practices such as customer integration, information integration, external integration and measurement integration are appropriate predictors to measure overall operational performance. The study concluded that SCI practices have significant and positive effect on operational performance of EPSS. Measurement integration, information integration, external integration and customer integration played significant role in enhancing operational performance of EPSS.
