Assessment of the Effect of Stakeholder Management on Project Performance: The Case of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Building Construction Management Department
(Addis Ababa University, 2023-06) Rahel Mekuria; Fisseha Afewerk (Associate Professor)
The objective of the study was to assess the effect of stakeholder management on project performance in the case of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Building Construction Management Department. The variables for managing stakeholders that are taken into account are stakeholder identification, planning stakeholder management, managing stakeholder engagement, and monitoring stakeholder engagement. The research used both descriptive and explanatory research designs using questionnaires as the primary data gathering technique. A census study was conducted with a total population of 37 professional project team members from the CBE -BCM Department. Of these, 35 questionnaires were submitted back for analysis, representing a response rate of 94.6%. Both descriptive and inferential analysis was conducted. SPSS version 27 (Statistical Package for Social Science) was employed as a statistical tool to conduct the analysis. Descriptive analysis was performed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation values, while Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis were used to examine the relationship between variables. The findings of the study indicate a positive correlation between all project stakeholder management variables and project performance. The results from the regression analysis also indicated that stakeholder identification (β=0.065), plan stakeholder engagement (β=0.367), manage stakeholder engagement (β =0.399), and monitor stakeholder engagement (β =0.438) had a positive relationship with project performance and predicted 69.2% of the performance of CBE -BCM Department projects with an adjusted R square value of 0.645 and p<0.05. The remaining 30.8% may be explained by other factors beyond this research. The author recommends employing effective stakeholder management approaches to increase the efficiency of project performance within the constraints of cost, time, and scope

Exploring the Relationship of MEAL Practices and Project Performance on the Selected Case Organization.
(Addis Ababa University, 2024-12) Rahel Mekuria; Abdurazak Mohammed (PhD)
The study used a descriptive research design and collected both primary and secondary data to examine the relationship between MEAL practices and project performance in the case organization. Data was gathered from 30 respondents through questionnaires and analyzed with statistical software (SPSS) and Pearson correlation analysis was used to determine the relationships between variables. The study discovered that all of the independent variables (MEAL practice, stakeholder involvement, MEAL planning, and capacity building) correlated significantly with the dependent variable, project performance. However, varying levels of agreement and concerns were identified within the organization's MEAL system. These concerns included the implementation of the MEAL practice, stakeholder involvement, capacity-building efforts, and MEAL planning. Recommendations were provided to address these areas of concern, such as improving the designated entity responsible for MEAL practice, enhancing stakeholder engagement practices, strengthening capacity-building efforts, and improving accountability for M&E activities. By implementing these recommendations, the organization can enhance its MEAL practices, stakeholder involvement, capacity building, and MEAL planning, ultimately leading to improved project performance and better decision-making processes. Keywords: M& E, MEAL practices, Project performance
