Nevertheless, there is little research in the literature that is available on the links between principals’ servant leadership behavior and teachers’ job satisfaction in Addis Ababa high schools. Thus, the purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between servant leadership and teachers’ job satisfactions in the schools of Arada Sub city, Addis Ababa. The target population of the study consists of four hundred forty nine secondary school teachers. Of which 150 teachers, representing 33% of the population, were participated in the study. Stratified and simple random sampling methods were employed to select samples. Data were collected through a closed questionnaire filled by teachers through hard copy and they were analyzed through SPSS version 25 software. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics such as percent, frequency, mean, standard deviation were used. Correlation statistics were also used to study the relationship between the variables. According to the research findings, this study supported and verified that there is implementation of servant leadership qualities (M = 3.63), high job satisfaction (80.04%, M = 3.977) of teachers and strong relationship (r= .701**) between servant leadership practice and teachers’ job satisfaction. Therefore, to attain teachers’ satisfaction in their work, leaders in sample schools and others are advised to be service oriented and apply servant leadership approach in their respective work contexts.Item Relationship Between Leadership Style and Academic optimism In Secondary Schools of Batu city Administration.(AAU, 2021) Shuke, Adem; Nigussie, Dejene (PhDThe purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between leadership style and Academic Optimism in secondary schools of Batu City Administration in Oromia regional state. To achieve the study objective, descriptive and to some extent an explanatory research design along with both quantitative and qualitative data /mixed method research approach was employed, and data was collected through the use of questionnaires and semi-structured interviews and document review .This study used / 192/ respondents randomly selected using lottery method and purposive sampling method .The study was carried out in six purposively selected secondary schools of Batu City Administration .Then a total of 131 teachers,6 principals, 12 vice principals, 35 department heads and 2 supervisors and 6 CAEO experts ware used in the data collection . Both descriptive and inferential analysis was to analyze the responses. The data obtained from primary sources were analyzed with descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation and inferential statistics such as correlation and regression. Statistical package for social sciences (version 24) was use in running the outcomes of the study. The descriptive statistics result shows that the employees exhibited an ambivalent moderate level of academic optimism and the less dominant leadership style at the organization was democratic leadership. The result of the correlation analysis indicated that democratic and laissez fair kind of leadership style has a positive relationship with academic optimism. The regression test shows that there was significant effect of types of leadership on academic optimism and the most commonly used style of leadership in selected secondary schools were the autocratic leadership style and has insignificant effect on academic optimism of teachers or employee commitment. Therefore it is concluded that due attention should be given for democratic types of leadership implemented in the organization from education stakeholders in order to improve school academic optimism found at moderate rate. Finally, it has been recommend that the educational leaders will be equipped with the appropriate type of leadership style that is significant and positively related with employees’ commitment in the organizations to enhance culture of academic optimism in the schoolItem The Relationship between Principal Leadership Style and School Climate: The Case of Yabello Wereda Secondary Schools of Borena Zone,Oromia Regional State(AAU, 2020-09) Mathewos, Getachew; Nigussie, Dejene (PhDThe main purpose of this study is to study and improve a link between the principals’ leadership style and the school climate which existed in behavior, attitude, expectations, values, beliefs and relationships with teachers and how the principal is exercising the leadership style in Yabello Wereda district secondary schools. Creating a good climate where teachers can teach and pupils can learn and parents can be involved in the education of their children’s.This. is to say that there is a connection between positive school climate and school principal leadership styles. The implication of this is that leadership styles dictate organizational climate. To this effect, Correlational design was employed by which questionnaires and interviews were used as instruments of data gatherings. The data were collected from two secondary schools teachers, department heads, unit leaders, principals and supervisors for the Wereda has only two secondary schools and also difficult to apply the methodology to other many secondary schools at other weredas. A total of 2 supervisors, 2 principals, 19 heads of departments, 2 unit leaders, and 40 teachers were included as subjects of the study. The collected data were analyzed with the help of appropriate Correlational Design to see relation which is used by “Pearson”. Various leadership styles used by principals and the corresponding climates were identified. The findings of the study indicated that the type of climate that exists in schools is related to the principal leadership style and the school principal used leadership style inappropriately. School climate differs from school to school; principals employ various styles while performing their duties, Principals’ perception of their behavior is different from how their followers perceive them. Teachers are not committed to their work, there is a link between principal leadership style and school climate. The study found that the dominant style of leadership used by the principals covered in this study, as perceived by their teachers, was the telling style of leadership. The two principals used the telling style of leadership inappropriately. To this end, the closed climate that existed in both schools could be linked to the inappropriate use of the telling style of leadership. More importantly, the style does not seem to be suitable to create a positive organizational climate.
