    Gädlä Abäw wä-Aḫaw [Fourth Part]: Edition and Annotated Translation with Philological and Linguistic Teweldeberhan Mezgebe Desta aw Commentary

    This thesis aimed to edit Gädlä Abäw wä-Aḫaw [Fourth Part] using diplomatic edition. Thus, the study sought to: (i) present an edition of Gädlä Abäw wä-Aḫaw [Fourth Part]; (ii) make a philological analysis of the gädl; (iii) present a linguistic commentary on the gädl;(iv) provide the theological background of the Stephanites; (v) discuss the historical milieu of the Stephanites. To this effect, Diplomatic edition as a research method was employed to conduct the study as the text is a codex unicus. In addition, five key informant interviews were used to supplement the historical and theological background of the Stephanites. The gädl preserves a vital and extensive historical and theological record of the 15th –century Stephanite movement.
