Item Maternal and Newborn Care Practices During Pregnancy and Postpartum Period in Berta Culture(Addis Ababa University, 2005-06) Mekonnen, Desalegn; Zewdie, Teka (PhD)The study was carried out from March to May 2005 in Benishangul Gumuz regional state of Berta ethnic group. The major objective of the study was to describe about maternal and newborn care practices during pregnancy, birth and postpartum period. Questionnaire and focus group discussion were used to collect the relevant data. Four representative areas and 120 respondents 30 in each were selected purposively. In the finding of the study, the traditional and medical care, social care, nutritional care, rituals and ceremonies, birth process, breastfeeding and other related postpartum care practices were described. Despite the presence of useful care practices such as social support, early breast-feeding, bonding and others, there are also harmful traditional care practices such as colostrums removal, preventing the child from sunlight, absence of medical check ups and others. Extensive education towards the care of the mother and newborn is recommended.Item Project Paper on The Role of Compensation System on Employees’ Job Satisfaction in East Africa Bottling Share Company – Coca- Cola SABCO(Addis Ababa University, 2017-05-09) Mekonnen, Desalegn; Chane, Abraraw (PhD)This project was designed to study the role of compensation system on employees’ job satisfaction on critical employees of East Africa Bottling Share Company.Data were collected through questionnaire prepared based on various scholars work. Thevalidity of the instrument was checked using Cronbach Alpha and the result was 85.8%. 191 questionnaires were distributed to the sample respondents who are located in AddisAbaba in sixcompetencies (departments). Of the total distributedquestionnaires all were usable questionnaires at100% response rate.Descriptive statistics and frequencies were utilized to analyze the data. Interpretation is madeon frequency and percentage of the data. The relationship between demographic factors and job satisfaction was tested using Mann-Whitney test and Kruskal Wallis test. Hypothesis was testedusing Logistic Regression.The study’s result has implied that compensation system has a positive role on employees’ job satisfaction in East Africa Bottling S.C. The company’s compensation system consists of financial and non-financial rewards. Three hypotheses were supported and only one of them was rejected.
