    Pertinent Contributing Factors to Divorce Among the Residents of Addis Ababa
    (Addis Ababa University, 2006-06) Meharene, Wodajeneh
    A survey study was conducted in Addis Ababa to study the pertinent contributing factors to divorce and perceived "reasons" of divorce among tile residents. A sample of 100 male and 100 female divorcees, 10 males and I Ofemilies ji'om each of the sub cities, filled out questionnaires and a group of professionals were interviewed. Percentages, descriptive statistics, Pearson corre/ations, t - values and spearman rank difference correlations were used to analyses the collected data. From the result, seven groups of pertinent contributi~g factors i.e. "Affective", "cognitive", "behavioral ", "familial ", "social", "economic", and "addictive" factors were identified. 111 addition, ten demographic factors were found to be pertinent contributing factors to divorce. Significance of difference was found between males and females for some of the factors. Suggestions are made on how to reduce th e rate of dis solution of marriages.
