Item Challenges and Prospects of Women Eootball Development: With Reference to Oromia Regional State(Addis Abeba university, 2012-08) Lema, Gezahegn; Taddese, WondemuPrompted by growing concern on the challenges and prospects of women’s foot ball development, the researcher conducted this study to assess the challenges and prospects of women’s development with especial attention to Oromia regional state. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches particularly, a descriptive survey were employed as they were found to be appropriate for answering the basic research questions. Instrument of data collection included questionnaires, rating scales, interviews, document analysis and observation. Pertaining to the sample population for the study, experts of Adama zone youth and sport affairs office, Oromia region youth and sport affairs bureau ,different professionals of Oromia region and different professionals of the country were involved. The results indicate that, women’s foot ball clubs have not given much emphasis, clubs lack attitudinal change, Cultural and environmental conditions with awareness problem influenced its development negatively. The result also revealed that attentions were not equal like the man’s foot ball by the stake holders; many premier league clubs have no women’s club in relation to the men’s club. Furthermore, the study revealed evidence that a gap of awareness on women’s foot ball starting the grass root level up to the regions foot ball federations, women’s foot ball clubs do not supported and encouraged as a project right from the beginning of the schools in the form of under 11,15 and 17 levels. And also trainings did not given for coaches and executive bodies of the foot ball clubs. The researcher at last, recommended to be provided many attentions for women’s foot ball development by the stake-holders and by the women themselves
