    The Contribution of Civil Societies in Improving the Livelihood of Street Children in Addis Ababa : The Case of Voice for Street Children in Ethiopia. (VSCE)

    The purpose of this study was to assess the contribution of civil societies in improving the livelihood of street children in Addis Ababa:The caseof Voice for Street Children in Ethiopia. To conduct this study, the descriptive survey method was employed. A total of 135 sample respondents (the street children) were involved, in the study. Both purposive and census samplings were employed. Specifically, a census sampling technique was employed for street children who were treated through questionnaires whereas a purposive sampling technique was applied for the case NGO representatives’ officers and government officers who are working with the NGOs.Quantitative data was be organized and analyzed using descriptive statistics such as frequency counts, percentage, mean and standard deviation for the purpose of analysis. The findings show that the contribution being played by VSCE towards improving the livelihood of Street Children is sgnificant, efficient, and helps to improve theirs lives. And indicated that because of the support gained from Voice for Street Children in Ethiopia, majority of the sample respondents are still in the school while others relatively few were found out of school because of their own individual reason. A significant proportion of the sample respondents agree that the support that they are receiving from VSCE is significantly improving their livelihood. Based on these findings, the study recommends Voice for Street Children in Ethiopia need to create awareness-raising programs and the program should be given for the general public to bring about effective and sustainable change in the lives of street children
