Item Conflict Management Practices in Selected Building Construction Projects Sites in Addis Ababa(Addis Ababa University, 2023-06) Kenzya Kassim; Solomon Markos (PhD)This study's goal is to examine the types, causes, and management strategies of conflicts that arise in Addis Abeba construction projects. Interviews and a questionnaire were utilized at the relevant construction-based organizations for the study. The research is conducted in three sites located at Gulele and AdissKetema sub-cities which are consulted by Zeger Designers PLC.Human conflict is unavoidable, particularly in the construction industry where there is constant interaction, a diverse workforce, resource and schedule restraints, uncertainty, and multiple organizational structures. Conflicts related to personalities were the main source of conflict discovered in this study. The respondents named a few factors as the main causes of conflict, including poor communication between parties, blaming, and finger-pointing when issues arise in construction.Owner-related conflicts account for 22% of the conflicts at project sites, followed by contractor conflicts (22%). The results show that collaboration (25%) and compromising (24%) were the two conflict management strategies that were used the most frequently.
