    Practises of Electronic Media Stations in Supporting Prevention against Human Trafficking in Ethiopia (The Case on EBC, Fana FM and Facebook

    The purpose of this research was to study electronic media’s supplementary prevention practise against human trafficking in Ethiopia. The study was conducted in Hossana city administration of the Hadiya Zone. To meet the objectives of the study, both qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection were used. A questionnaire was administered to 200 purposely selected respondents. In addition, in-depth interviews were conducted with ten key informants, and a focus group discussion session was held with five participants taken from different associations. Furthermore, document analysis and review of related literatures were also made. Qualitative data was presented by descriptive narration and quantitative were analysed using SPSS and presented in the form of table and graph. Experience of two electronic media institutions (Ethiopia Broadcasting Corporation and Fana FM radio) were analysed by review programs already broadcasted on the issue. What’s more, the role and practice of Facebook, as one of electronic and social media site was also studied. Besides, both internal and external challenges electronic media stations faced in trying to assist prevention against human trafficking were described. In conclusion, the research demonstrated that, electronic media stations were not strong in shaping the behaviour of the public. Hence, there is a strong need to work more on electronic media. As a result, actual and anticipated challenges of electronic media stations minimize. And they can be one of effective intervention mechanism in prevention of human trafficking like social institutions
