    The effect of driver’s performance on road transport operation: In case of Unique Transport Cross Border Freight Association, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

    History of transportation dates back to the medieval period through the use of domestic animals which are used in transporting heavier loads or humans riding animals for easy conveyance and speed. The industrial revolution in the nineteenth century saw various inventions which changed the phase and means of transportation such as telegraphy. Means of communication became a necessity and independent of the transport of physical objects. Road transport is an essential part of the transport system and the most common form of transport. Road transport is vital to the economic development and social integration of the country. However this sector has face different problems, therefore the study investigates the effect of driver’s performance on road transport operation with reference to Unique Transport Cross Border Freight Association, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The objective of the study was to investigate drivers behavior, skill, health, and fatigue influence on road transport operation in unique transport cross borders. A survey was conducted by drawing sample size of 126 from a target population of 175 by using simple random sampling. The researcher used structured questionnaires to collect data. The relationships proposed in the framework were tested using Pearson correlation, and the causal relations were analyzed using regression analysis. And the research has found drivers behavior, driver’s skill, driver’s health and drivers fatigue has a positive and significant influence on road transport operation
