    Students Basketball Technical Skill Learning Difficulty Inwest Arsi Zone Selected Preparatory Schools,Oromiya Regional State

    The purpose of this study was to investigate students learning difficulty in basketball technical skills: the case of Shashemene preparatory schools, West Arsi Zone, in Oromiya Regional State. A concise review of related literature was taken to discuss the different issues which are related with school basketball. To conduct this study, a descriptive survey method was employed to collect data from targeted sampled groups. The sampled school includes two government schools. The subjects of the study were 40 students, 4 principals, 4 teachers and 4 alumni (former students). Data was obtained from respondents using questionnaire, interview, and observation presented as supplements to enrich information that was drawn questionnaires. As far as data analysis is concerned, both qualitative and quantitative approaches were employed. Qualitative method was used to provide detailed description of the data to help the researcher explore and discover inherent facts, while quantitative approach was meant for quantifying data generated in terms of frequencies and percentages using tables. The result of the study revealed that there is lack of qualified basketball teachers, material, interest to teachers, personal outlook of parents and school principals. Moreover, inadequate support was given by education Bureau of Shashemene City Administration, no opportunities for students with disabilities to participate in basketball technical skills; the period allocated for Physical Education was less. Hence the Current status of school basketball is ill.
