    Devaluation of Birr and its Impact on Firms which Operate Foreign Trade :-The Case of Quarit Agro Industry and Belayneh Kinde Import and Export

    By taking two import and export firms, this study assessed the impact of devaluation of birr on performance of firms. The study used both primary (collected through interview) and secondary data collected from financial statements of the two case companies. It is found that the devaluation has affected the firms in many ways such as requirement of large amount of capital, decrease in profitability, decrease in reliability of customers, etc. Gross profit margin on sales has decreased for both firms in the years between 2007 and 2009.
