Item Bilateral Trade between Ethiopia and Sudan: Does FTA Make Them Better?(Addis Ababa University, 2012-06) Eshetu Abebe; Hasan SyedThis paper has tried to evaluate the determinants of bilateral trade flows particularly the effect of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Ethiopia and Sudan during the years 2002 to 2011. Based on Panel data, Static and Dynamic Gravity models are applied to assess the determinants of basic and export trade flows including FTA, GDP, population, exchange rate and distance. Estimation results of the static model indicates that Economic size, FTA, distance are the basic factors affecting trade flows. Whereas the dynamic model shows the existence of strong correlation between the Ethiopian contemporary trades (export) flows and those of the previous year. Therefore, we see that the dynamic model fits the data better than the static oneItem The Cauchy- Problem With the Heat Equation(Addis Ababa University, 2014-06-06) Eshetu Abebe; Abdi Tadesse (PhD)This report attempts to study solution of explicit linear PDE of second order, the heat equation u k u f t With certain symmetry condition on the solution u .In this regard, some sort of scaling of variables is introduced and pertinent scaling transformation T that leaves the ratio t x 2 unchanged is shown to usher to a solution of the form: t x u x t v 2 , Which is radial and hence a symmetric function.Item The Role of Emotional Intelligence on Leadership Effectiveness in the case of Hibret Bank, Addis Ababa(Addis Ababa University, 2024-10) Eshetu Abebe; Wubshet belete (PhD)This research explains the impact of emotional intelligence (EI) on leadership effectiveness at Hibret Bank. The study aims to assess the leaders' emotional awareness, communication perception, recognition and response to team members' emotions, and effectiveness in managing emotions. The study used both quantitative and qualitative techniques to collect the data through structured questionnaires and semi-structured interviews provided to 262 leaders from Addis Ababa branches of Hibret Bank. Statistical analyses, including correlation and regression, were conducted using SPSS version 26. The findings reveal a generally positive perception of leaders' EI, with significant correlations between EI components and leadership effectiveness, particularly in emotion regulation. However, areas for improvement include empathy and self-management. Recommendations include standardizing conflict management practices, enhancing communication, and providing comprehensive EI training. By integrating quantitative data and qualitative insights, the study provides actionable recommendations to cultivate a more emotionally intelligent and cohesive organizational culture at Hibret Bank, ultimately aiming to enhance leadership effectiveness and employee well-being.
