    Facilitators and Barriers of Implementing Sepsis Bundles in Septic Patients at Emergency and Critical Care Department in Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: Aqualitative Study

    The main objective of the study is to explore the facilitators and barriers of implementing sepsis in septic patients at Emergency department in Tikur Anbessa Specalized Hospital, Addis Ababa,Ethiopia. It is supported by many studies that early diagnosis and treatment of sepsis by applying the sepsis bundles will improve the outcome of septic patients. Although this awareness is created among those practicing emergency medicine, it is not always optimally executed. In response, this qualitative study was designed to explore the facilitators and barriers of implementing sepsis bundles in septic patients at Emergency and Critical Care Department in Tikur Anbesa Specialized Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The study was conducted from June to September 2024. A Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research was used to explore barriers and facilitators of implementing sepsis bundles in septic patients. The data was collected using in-depth and key-informant interviews with individuals who were selected based on their knowledge and experience in the matter. The data was coded and thematic analysis was done manually. The main results of the study were grouped into individual characteristics, inner setting, outer setting, process, and the intervention affect based on themes of the conceptual framework. The key facilitators include working in a university hospital which helps staff to access knowledge and skills, positive attitude for change by most of the staff ,attention being given to sepsis by the ministry of health (MOH) .The key barriers include resource limitation,lack of effective communication, gap in the involvement of key stakeholders, resistant behaviour of some staffs and lack of training and tools. In conclusion, although the research is done in a single centre, the results can contribute to quality improvement projects related to sepsis and lay a ground for future researchers
