    Assessing the Integration and Interaction Experiance of the Yemeni and Syrian Urban Refugees in to Host Communities in Addis Ababa, the Case of Bole and Lideta Sub-City, Ethiopia

    This study assesses the integration and interaction of Yemeni and Syrian refugees into the host community in Addis Ababa. It focused on how the Yemeni and Syrian refugees interacted and integrated intothe host community, the barriers they encountered, and mechanisms used to overcome. The research employed a mixed research approach, involving 18 in-depth interviews and, with a sample size of 350survey participants selected through purposive sampling, including Yemeni and Syrian refugees and members of the host community. Data collection methods included in-depth interviews, and surveys. The qualitative findings highlighted that cultural interaction between Yemeni and Syrian refugees and the host community in Addis Ababa is shaped by shared spaces, mutual curiosity, and practical communication needs. While formal participation in host community structures is limited, informal interactions, especially in housing and religious settings, offer meaningful opportunities for interaction. Language barriers, cultural differences, and limited institutional support remained key challenges to deeper integration. Moreover, quantitative finding impliedthat tackling legal factors yield the most substantial improvements in integration, while also pointed the significance of cultural as well as economic barriers. These findings emphasize the importance of legal competence in social work practice and the need for policymakers to prioritize implementing legal rights for refugees. Social workers also crucial in promoting interaction with addressing legal barriers and advocating equal access to resources. Policymakers should prioritize reducing these barriers, and future research could explore additional factors influencing integration. Policymakers should also consider these findings to develop inclusive policies that foster social integration and interaction between Yemeni and Syrian refugees and the host community in Addis Ababa.
