Item An Assessment On Pharmaceutical Storage System In The Case Of Arsi Zone Governmental Health Centers(Addis Ababa University, 2018-06-24) Bekele, Sisay; Mitiku, Shiferaw (PhD)The Health facilities of any region in the country have a responsibility for establishing of reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable pharmaceutical supply chains that will capable for meeting the demand of its local area people and patients, likely wise all H/Facilities found in the Arsi Zone are responsible to avail and store pharmaceutical for preventing and curative health services. To accomplish different health activities the health facilities, need enough warehouse space for storage of supplies. Unlike other products pharmaceutical supplies need standard warehouse for minimizing of wastages due to poor storage management activities any pharmaceutical warehouse components are arranged to provide cost-effective and efficient product flows to clinical users. These components comprise 1) the warehouse facility; 2) the material handling equipment & layout; 3) warehouse internal operations or activities 4) receiving and issuing of orders from suppliers or users. The total population of H/centers found under the ZHD is 98 and the sample size was 40 for this study. Primly all Zonal H/centers were stratified by 26 woredas and H/centers found under the woreda town were selected for assessment purposely being they have high volume patient and supply consumptions. The researcher believes that the impact of poor storage practices & shortages of space in high volume H/centers were sever than the rest nearby H/Centers. The rest 14 were selected in random probability methods. (40% X 96). The research method for gathering of information employed was a mix of interviewing to store managers and relevant management members by using the standard questionaries’ which was categorized in to six major sections. In addition to this I observe the actual operation practices inside warehouses during my selfpresentation of questioners to the store heads like availability of pallets, shelves, recording & documentation practices and finally about space adequacy status. The total sum of the recommendations was then presented to AAUSC for academic fulfillment and the statement of my recommendations will be my next phase of effort to realize this research in to practices
