    Phytochemical Investigation on the Leaves of Dodonaea Viscosa Var. Angustifolia

    The petroleum ether extract of the leaves of Dodonaea viscosa var. angustifolia afforded a diterpene 5-(2-(furan-3-yl)ethyl)-3,4,4a,5,6,7,8,8a-octahydro-8 hydroxy-5,6,8a-trimethylnaphthalene-1-carboxylic acid (compound Dc-8B) whereas the chloroform extract gave two compounds; a diterpene hautriwaic acid (compound D-16) and a flavonoid Santin (5,7-dihydroxy-3,6,4'-trimethoxy flavone) (compound D26-3B). Structural elucidation of these compounds were conducted using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, DEPT, 2D NMR (COSY, HSQC, & HMBC), and UV-Vis spectra.
