Item Maternal Satisfaction on Delivery Service in Public Health Centers: Facility Based Cross Sectional Study Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.(Addis Abeba University, 2019-11) Mehari, Woinshet; Assegid, Meselech(Mph,Assistant Profeser,PHDCandidate); Ketema, Bezawit(MPH)Introduction Maternal satisfaction used as one evaluating tool for quality of maternal health care given in health facilities and help to improve quality of care given to delivery mothers as well as decrease maternal mortality. Objectives: This study aimed to assess level of maternal satisfaction on delivery service and its associated factor among women who gave birth in selected public health center in Addis Ababa city Administration. Methods: A facility based cross sectional study was conducted from March to April 2019 in Addis Ababa city. Systematic random sampling technique was used to select 582 mothers who gave birth within the study period. The satisfaction of mothers was measured using 27 questions that were adopted from Donabedian quality assessment framework. Multivariate logistic regression was fitted to identify independent predictors of maternal satisfaction. Result: The overall satisfaction on delivery service of the respondent mothers was 89.7%. Process related delivery mothers‘ satisfaction was 94.5%, whereas mothers‘ satisfaction in relation to structure of the health centers was 68.6%. There was no significant predictor for process based delivery services. For structural bases, educational status (AOR 95% CI: 1.96(1.112-3.45), type of transport (AOR 95% CI: 0.39(0.19, 0.78), time of admission from 6am12am (AOR 95% CI: 2.142(1.16-3.94), status of pregnancy (AOR 95% CI: 2.34(1.16, 4.69) and long waiting time (AOR 95% CI: 0.426(0.27, 0.66) were significant factors for delivery mothers‘ satisfaction. However, short waiting time (AOR 95% CI: 6.07 (2.1-17.15), wanted pregnancy (AOR 95% CI: 3.98(1.60-9.90) and time of admission from 6am-12am (AOR 95% CI 3.26(1.023-10.38) and from 0 pm-6pm (AOR 95% CI 2.56(1.077-6.09) were factors that had positive association for overall delivered mothers‘ satisfaction. Conclusion: This study revealed that the overall satisfaction of mothers on delivery service was found to be good. Wanted pregnancy; waiting time and time of admission were independent predictors of maternal satisfaction. Thus, there is a need of an intervention on shortening waiting time, provide good service during night time and increase access and awareness of family planning mothers to reduce and prevent unplanned pregnancy.
