Artemisia rehan , Ohiov (1), known by the local name Mr it' is an endemic plant to Ethiopia. An in vitro antimnlarial test of the crude extract gave an IC 50 of 50 ug ml- 1. Artemotin and a sesquiterpene lactone were isolated from the aerial parts of the plant , 1rtemetin was identified by its melting point -> nd spectral data MS , IR , NMR and 13C-NMR. IR , ^HNME , 13C-NMR and chemical studies vifiro carried out to elucidate the structure of the* sesquiterpene. Vulgarin , a Compound that was previously isolated from the same plant was analyzed 1 13 by two dimensional H and C- NMR including COLOG specs troscopic techniques.
