Given a finite set and a family , ,…, of subsets of . . , , 1,2,…, the set covering problem is to find the minimum cardinality 1,2,…, such that . The elements of are called points. Given 1,2,…, , a point is said to be covered if it belongs to . In the case of minimum cost covering each set have a cost 0 and our aim will be minimizing Σ such that . In this project I focused, in general, on the subject matter of the problem and the main applications together with some basic algorithms for obtaining optimal (near-optimal) solutions including some MatLab programming.Item Statistical Analysis of the Performance of City-Buses in Addis Ababa in 1990 E.C.(Addis Ababa University, 1999-06) Abebe, Samuel; Dilba, Gemechis (PhD)Item Waste Water Management in Al-ASR Textile Factory of Dukem Town(Addis Ababa University, 2021-08) Abebe, Samuel; Simane, Belay ProfessorAlthough textile industries have economic and social benefit in the country, they have been degrading the environment through their discharges. This problem has also manifested itself in Dukem town, where the factory is surrounded by local farm lands and polluted by the liquid effluents. Consequently, this study aims to analyze the pollution level of AL-ASR textile waste water treatment plant based on EPA standard and assesses its waste water management in accordance with ISO 14001:2015 standard. The researcher employed laboratory sample test analysis, physical observation and interviews as research methods. Accordingly, the researcher finds that the main reason for this pollution is the factory’s lack of environmental management system and environmental policy, limited knowledgeable and skilled man power in waste water management, as well as its limitations of stakeholders participation and factory local experts. Based on the findings, the researcher recommends the factory to have environmental policy, implement an environmental management system, and provide capacity building training to the local expert. Besides, training need to be offered to the monitoring and evaluation team of Dukem town environmental, forest and climate change authority, such that appropriate monitoring and evaluation takes place and constructive feedback can obtained continuously
