Major objective of the research is to examine the implementation of community policing and its applicability in addressing GBV, with a particular focus on Woreda 01 & 02 of Yeka Sub-City , while the major research question was to assess whether community policing approach is adequately addressing GBV in the study area . To this end, the researcher employed qualitative method and exploratory research design to undertake the study. The data was collected through in-depth interview, focus group discussion and key informant interview while the secondary sources of information depended on desk review of relevant documents. The study found out that community policing officers working in the study area are not well versed with the theoretical and practical aspects of community policing and the basics of GBV and its preventing approach. With these situations, the community policing offices working in the area cannot prevent violence against women, girls and children as expected from community policing philosophy. Thus, to reverse the situation, community policing officers should pass through serious of trainings including the prevention aspects of GBV.
