Surafel Gelgelo (PhD)Solomon W/Medhin2024-12-242024-12-242023-02-01https://etd.aau.edu.et/handle/123456789/3944The main objective of this research undertaking is to investigate the lived experiences of four ex- members of the Ethiopia Armed forces while they were under captivity o the EPLF and TPLF. This research discusses about the Ethiopian Prisoners of War who were members of the Ethiopian Revolutionary Army who were detained by the EPLF and TPLF which eventually became EPRDF forces in the period between 1974 and 1991. The thesis took some ex- Ethiopian POWs and studied their family background, recruitments and experience during their imprisonment and repatriation process. In conducting this study both, primary and secondary sources were utilized. Primary eye witness account of the POWs and documents that are found in the hands of the inmates and some archival materials are used. The secondary sources, books and articles of different scholars are the other sources used to produce this research work. Qualitative research method is employed to conduct this research. The study found out that the Ethiopian Prisoners of War were maltreated by the northeren insurgents who captured them.
