The main focus of this work is to assess problems related to irrigation water management, calculate crop water requirements of major crops cultivated, and investigate the impact of improper irrigation practices in the study area. To achieve the objectives, both qualitative and quantitative data sets were used. The results were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics (IBM SPSS Version 27 software). Also, the crop water requirement is calculated by the CropWat 8.0 software. According to the frequency analysis, 36.8% of respondents (n=57) stated poor water quality caused by municipal or industrial waste as their top irrigation management problem. High fuel costs were identified as the second biggest concern by 33.5% of respondents (n=52), with 29.7% (n=46) referring to over-flooding after heavy rains as the third major challenge. The results of the study also show that the water requirements of cultivated crops in the area are mismatched with the actual crop water requirements. The irrigation requirement of major crops cultivated in the area, such as cabbage, small vegetables, potatoes, and tomatoes, was scheduled in nine, seven, ten, and seven days, respectively. Furthermore, the result shows that soil salinity, waterlogging, and yield reduction were due to mismanagement of irrigation water in the study area.
