Beyond informing, educating, and entertaining media can play different role for the community. The purpose of study was to examine how ESAT and OMN are playing media role towards building peace and democracy in their news content of 2018 G.C. The study employed qualitative content analysis and in-depth interview to gather necessary data. Both data collected through content analysis and an interview. The analyzed content was selected per their relevance to the issues under study. In depth interview was conducted with editors‟ of both media. The content analysis of 30 news which was disseminated in 2018 G.C. of both media was selected purposively. Collected data have been organized per their similarities under major themes that were derived from content analysis and interview data. The news from both media is analyzed based on the situations in 2018 and the data was divided into two categories as: 1. Before the Reform (frrom January 1-March 30, 2018) and 2. After Reform (from April1-December 31, 2018) The study showed that both media played a role to build peace and democracy of the country by their news report of 2018 G.C. However both media framed the issues of peace and democracy building in their news media by mostly focusing two regions, Amhara and Oromia.
