The banks were selected based on different dimensions such as: economic roles, age or service year, market share, types of ownership entitlement and other essential factors. Depending on the measurements the researcher selected the following six banks: Commercial bank of Ethiopia, Wegagen bank, Dashen bank, Bank of Abyssinia, Cooperative bank of Oromia and Enat bank. A mix of primary and secondary data was used in the study. The primary data source structured questionnaires and interview was used as data collection tools. The questionnaires were distributed to employees and female managers of the Banks and the researcher tied to interview key officials and presidents of the Banks. A mix of both probability & non- probability sampling methods was applied in the study. To avoid biasness and error of the probability sampling method, the research used simple random sampling. Furthermore, purposive sampling was also implemented as a method so as to consist of women leaders as a respondent to get pertinent information about the status and factors affecting the participation of women in leadership position in those selected Banks. The study was analyzed based on an explanatory study method applied to employees of the selected Banks.
