Spectral and angular distribution of surface reflectance at different altitude of the atmosphere were simulated for different solar zenith angle. Sensitivity of normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) to aerosol loading, cirrus cover, air mass and bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) has been studied. The result of the simulation for selected surface types have shown that NDVI increases with solar zenith angle irrespective of land surface types. More over our analysis reveals that sensitivity of NDVI to aerosol is highly pronounced for all surface types.
