But there is a problem on calculating and evaluating the influence of change in vegetation cover on the change of climate. Then, this study was conducted the impacts of vegetation cover change on land surface temperature using remote sensing and GIS methods. The study area was in south which is high populated and more highland. Data was extracted from land satellite images like Landsat 5, Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager/ Thermal Infrared Sensor (OLI/TIRS). Thematic Mapper Sensor (TM) and Climate Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) (and also ground truth data was used to verify remotely sensed data, additionally Pearson Correlation coefficient was conducted to calculate and to analyze the relationship of vegetation cover with LST. The final output presented that vegetation cover occupied an area of 227979.09 ha (15.6%),154424.43 ha (12.5%), and 195231.59 ha (13.3 %) in 1985, 2000 and 2018, respectively where 3.1% of vegetation cover has been lost in the last 33 years in in the study area.en-USremote sensingGISSouth Gondar zoneVegetation CoverLand Surface TemperatureAssessing the Effects of Land Surface Temperature on Vegetation Cover Change Using Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing Techniques: A Case Study of South Gonder, EthiopianThesis
