Abstract:
The ma in obj ective of thi s study was to examine " Factors that influence Female Teachers'
Parti cipati on in Ac ti o n Research at Lafto Government Primary School." In order to
und erstand the particip ation of female teachers in re sea rch activitie s, qualitative data was
ge nerat ed through purposive ly se lected. Two professional experts at Education Bureau, ten
female teache rs', two sc hool admini strators and two unit leaders who are more responsibl e
for the iss ues us in g semi - structured inte rvi ews, informal conversation, and observations
of action research a nalys is . Use of these methods served to triangulate the data . The data
obtained throu g h interview, informal conversation a nd focu s gro up di sc uss ion were
analyze d qualitatively usin g co nceptua li zation, cod ining, catagorizining and themes. The
major findin g indicated that lack of tra ining, lack of motivation, work lo ad, fam il y
respo ns ibilit y, negati ve attitude of fema le teachers' and others are factor s that influence the
invo lve me nt of Lafto Government Primar y School female teachers ' to do action re searc h.
Due to these factors, fe m ale teac hers ' invo lve ment in action re search at Laft o Government
Pri mary Schoo l was low. To overcom e such factors various appli cab le moti vation al
strategies were in vestigated like tra ini ngs, facilities, and in centives. It is hoped that the se
wi ll ass ist fema le teachers' participation in action re search activities at large.
