dc.description.abstract This study examined the factors affecting student‟s dropout in Primary Schools of Kuyyu Woreda, North Showa, Oromia. The study focuses on identifying the major problems causing dropout in most of the primary schools in Kuyyu woreda. The researcher classified the problems or factors of dropout into three main categories relating them to school, teachers and communities and families. The study, used quantitative collection tool, questionnaire as a major data gathering instrument and various recorded documents with respect to students drop out were used from the sample schools, and zone education office. The questionnaire was designed for home room teachers, principals and supervisors of the targeted schools from the cluster through purposive sampling technique. For the analysis the researcher used SPSS and tried to discuss the major causes of drop out in the Woreda starting from both the descriptive statistics outputs such as mean, range and standard deviations and frequency analysis of the statistical package. The researcher tried to list out the major causes of drop out in the primary school of Kuyyu Woreda, such as students in ability to afford school expenses, the number of students allowed to take a lesson in a room, parent‟s need of childs labor, … etc and forwards series of measures needed to be taken to reduce dropout. en_US
