Abstract: This study was carried ou t to examine the opportunities and ch allenges of group work through Satellite TelevislOl1 (plasma). A descriptive statistical a nalysis method wa:; employed to conduct this s tudy since it is more appropriate to current problems . The subject of the study includ ed 208 students and 7 English teachers at Theodros II Secon dClry School in Ocbre Tabor. They were selected using s imple random sampling techniques. The data was gathered through questionnaire, interview and classroom observation. The questionnaire was used to explore stud ents' attitu des, belief. reported classroom practices, as well as constraints with respect to group learning through STY. The interview and classroom observation su pplemented the data obtained through the questionnaire. Percentages were used to analyze the collected data. The results of th e study reveal that most of the students and tear-hers liked group learning th rough STY (plasma) because they believed that it. enabled the grou p members to engagc in probiem ;wiving activit.ies and i, made ,h elt: par ticipate in th eir group. It was also h elpful in reducing boredom anti promoting their in terest a nd motivation. It wouid also help the le~~nlers better users of the lctnguage.
