|Abstract:||The purpose of this study was to identify the status of community participation in TVET programs, taking Entoto TVET College as the sample of the study. It was a case study, which encompassed the trainers, trainees and deans of the college as active participants. So, the research used the above groups as primary sources in addition to the various documents of the college and supplementary books as secondary sources. The student researcher used more of simple random sampling and purposive sampling as techniques and questionnaires and interview as instruments of data collection. The simple random sampling was used for the selection of the trainees and the trainers, whereas purposive sampling was used when the college, the department and the deans were selected. The data obtained from the sources were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The responses to the open ended questions of the questionnaires and the interview were qualitatively treated using textual presentation. The other questions of the questionnaires were statistically treated using frequency, percentage and mean. It was found that the majority of the respondents didn’t have any doubt on the importance of community participation so as to improve TVET programs. But, it was only a wishful thinking manifested mainly in a plan form but not seen boldly in terms of accomplishment. Several challenges were found to have created an obstacle to community involvement in TVET programs. Hence, the student researcher tried to forward certain recommendations which could be of very vital in order to improve the situation. TVET colleges must have a certain stricture to conduct continuous research, like participatory forms of research, which allows community partners to be involved in an active manner in TVET issues. The involvement of parents, who are in one way members of the community and in the other way a very intimate influencers of trainees, can also be a very crucial asset in the strive of meeting many TVET institutions’ goal to come up with competent, effective and confident graduates. The community should also be very knowledgeable about TVET programs through creating awareness programs in TVET institutions in the form of seminars and workshops. The curricula and industry expectation variances can also be narrowed through working in a very close manner since the expected competence of the graduates that is already there in the curriculum can be met when all the parties involved take responsibility to shape the graduates|
