Abstract: The aim of this paper is to give an account to the phonology of Awngio The attempt is to determine the number of phonemes and tonemes and their functions in the system of this language. In Chapter one, the people and their language, method and scope of the study are introduced The consonant and vowel phonemes are described in Chapter two Chapter three is for the discussion of the syllable pattern and structural processes in the syllable. Finally, Suprasegmentals are briefly discussed in chapter four
