Abstract: I am very grateful to my advisor, Dr. Darge Wole, for his invaluable advice in the planning and undertaking of the thesis. He has been willing to devote time and effort for giving me suggestions each of which contributed toward the improvement of the thesis. I am especially indebted to Ato Asmare Emire for his help in preparing the data for computer analysis and to Ato Mola Hunegnaw for his help in the statistical analyses. I am also indebted to Ato Abebe Zewdie, Ato Banjaw Gebre Michael, and Ato Sewnet Mamo for their substantial assistance in organizing and summarizing the data.
