Abstract: The main aim of this study was to examine tlze relationship between the vocabulary teaching techniques used in English textbook and the oocabulanj testing techniques in schools. To this end, grade eleoen English textbook was selected and the vocabulary teaching techniques were identified and examined. Similarly, eig/zteen final examination papers were selected from two government and one non-government preparatory schools. Items used in the examination papers were sorted out and categorized according to their types. After that, the relationship between the vocabulary teaching techniques and the testing techniques was compared and contrasted. Findings of the study show that there is a misnuucli between the vocabulanj teaching techniques in the textbook and the testing techniques in the examination papers. Finally, based on the drawn conclusions. recommendations were made ..
