Abstract: This study was mainly aimed to investigate the state of children's literature in kindergartens found in Addis Ababa City Administration. The subjects of the study included 54 principals and 168 teachers from 54 kindergartens. Questionnaires, observation checklists and coding sheets were used to gather data. Percentages and mean values were used to analyze the collected data. The conclusion to be drawn from this study is that the place given to children's literature is less in the kindergarten program and its utilization is limited to 'Reading aloud' and 'Story telling'. Hence, it is advisable to take appropriate measures to improve the state of children's literature in the kindergartens.
